IRUM, manufacturer of the only agricultural tractor in Romania, has optimized its manufacturing processes and can now effortlessly plan tens of thousands of operations with APS

IRUM has enhanced its entire production planning and scheduling process with Senior Software’s APS system. The Romanian manufacturer of agricultural tractors and forestry equipment can now anticipate production bottlenecks in advance, successfully manage up to one million equipment configuration versions and simultaneously manage a massive volume of data.

IRUM, with over 70 years of tradition in manufacturing forestry, agricultural and other types of machinery, has implemented the APS solution from Senior Software in order to optimize production planning. Through this, the company has improved manufacturing workflows, reduced downtime, and gained increased visibility across its processes, ensuring better resource control and meeting delivery deadlines with accuracy.

With a turnover of approximately 28 million euros, IRUM simultaneously plans tens of thousands of operations using the APS solution – an advanced production planning and scheduling system – and efficiently manages multiple work centers without errors. The system has enabled the company to achieve precise and synchronized production planning, ensuring a seamless workflow regardless of the complexity of its work centers.

The machinery we produce is highly complex, with some containing over a thousand components manufactured in-house, while others are sourced externally. APS helps us manage and plan tens of thousands of operations simultaneously, ensuring that all necessary components reach the assembly line precisely at the right time, without delays or shortages.

Additionally, the advanced planning solution from Senior Software enables us to efficiently handle the variability of our work centers, which differ significantly in terms of capacities. Whether we’re talking about the foundry, a CNC center, or the assembly line, APS ensures accurate and flexible planning.

IRUM efficiently manages the production of a wide range of customized machinery, tailored to each client’s requirements. With the APS solution, the company has successfully coordinated a vast number of configurations, ranging from hundreds to tens of thousands of combinations, based on the unique specifications of each piece of equipment. With the APS system, we successfully manage the complexity of the planning process, having the ability to simultaneously coordinate various types of machinery, such as articulated forestry tractors (TAF), IFRON equipment, agricultural tractors and more. Through the reports available in APS, IRUM can compare actual times with scheduled ones, analyze production process performance and quickly identify any deviations. The system enables timely corrective actions, ensuring adherence to established deadlines. Additionally, the order merging functionality facilitates the production of large batches, reducing frequent changeovers and repetitive raw material resupplying, thus optimizing production and logistics workflows.

One aspect I highly appreciate about APS from Senior Software is the visualization feature, which is extremely intuitive and user-friendly. We have access to a wide range of charts and reports that we can generate directly from the planning tool. Every day, we can monitor operations that are delayed compared to the established deadlines, which helps us quickly identify potential issues.

A particularly useful functionality of APS is order merging, which allows us to produce multiple orders in a single batch that would otherwise be distributed over longer periods. This contributes to the reduction of changeovers and optimization of raw material procurement.
