Miababy.ro Interview: “With WMS, we manage to ship 80% of orders on the same day they are placed”
Interview with Mr. Catalin Vladescu, CTO Miababy.ro
Miababy is the first online start up in Romania dedicated to parents with children up to three years old and was launched in mid 2017. Through the miababy.ro website, the company sells a wide range of children’s clothing and footwear, toys, maternity items and other products needed during the first years of a child’s growth. The Miababy portfolio includes dozens of well established brands such as Blue Seven, Tuc Tuc, Brother Max and Tommee Tippee, certified according to European standards.
Thus, the company decided to implement the warehouse management solution from Senior Software. Catalin Vladescu, CTO of Miababy, shared the reasons behind choosing this system, how the WMS solution supports their E-commerce operations and the role it plays in the company’s future development plans.
1. How did the Miababy project begin?
C. Vladescu: In order to start with a well planned platform, the Miababy project began a year earlier with a market study. Statistical data showed that there was a growing demand for products dedicated to children between zero and three years old and that more than 50% of those purchasing such items online were not the parents themselves, but people looking for gifts.
This is how the Miababy start up was created, driven by the desire to respond to the needs of this market segment, contribute to the healthy development of children and support parents in raising their little ones.
2. What led you to decide to implement a warehouse management solution?
C. Vladescu: From the very beginning, we considered that investing in technology was necessary to reduce operational costs as much as possible and to deliver high quality services.
Since we are among the few websites in this sector that operate with products 100% in stock, we wanted to automate as many workflows as possible. Moreover, we aimed to focus on activities that cannot be handled by software solutions, actions that help us grow and, at the same time, increase customer satisfaction. Considering these aspects, implementing a warehouse management solution proved to be essential.
3. Why did you choose the WMS solution from Senior Software?
C. Vladescu: One of the criteria was compatibility with other systems we were already using, and another was the validation received from other companies. We had the opportunity to see how this solution works at another Senior Software client and were very satisfied.
For us, it was also important that we could automate a very large percentage of workflows. From the moment a customer clicks to place an order, the only direct interaction takes place in the warehouse when the goods are picked and prepared for delivery.
Last but not least, the ability to process a large volume of products with a limited number of resources was one of the main reasons we chose to collaborate with Senior Software.

C. Vladescu: At this moment, we are using a standard version that allows us to automate a large part of our processes: managing large batch volumes, printing AWBs, printing product labels at reception, transfers and more. As our business continues to grow, we will certainly need to further develop the warehouse management solution.
At the same time, the WMS system from Senior Software helps us, and will continue to help us, maintain logistical traceability, know at any time what stock we have and where each item is located, what purchase orders are pending and which products need to be received.
